This weekend, when you are deciding between the very summery options of Grown Ups 2 and Pacific Rim, just know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and that light is coming from a movie screen playing an Oscar contender. One such film is Out of the Furnace, with its November 27 release date. Written and directed by Crazy Heart’s Scott Cooper, it stars Christian Bale and Casey Affleck as two brothers trying to get by in America’s Rust Belt. When Affleck finds himself in trouble with Woody Harrelson, Bale sets out to make things right — you know, with guns. Sounds good, but does it have enough to take down the cat and baby boomer sixties nostalgia of Inside Llewyn Davis? Either way, look forward to another stop on the Christian Bale Tour of the American Accents.
