The CW is working on yet another reincarnation of Fame, with Debbie Allen again onboard. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new scripted show would be set at a performing arts high school in Los Angeles (singing on a surf board, mayhaps?), and Allen would serve as an executive producer — but not a performer. So far, Fame has been a movie, a TV show, a stage musical, a reality contest TV show, and another movie; maybe we shouldn’t be surprised it’s getting another revival. (Weirdly, there has already been a show called Fame: LA, a syndicated drama in the late nineties.) This new incarnation is just at a script stage right now, though, so there’s plenty of time to rewatch MTV’s technically unrelated performing-arts-school reality series Taking the Stage, which was so good.
