There’s going to be a little bit of a The State reunion on TV this season. Michael Ian Black has been added as a series regular on Fox’s midseason sitcom Us & Them, in which he’ll play the brother of a character played by fellow State alum Kerri Kenney, THR reports. Black was a guest star in the pilot, but was bumped up to series regular status for subsequent episodes.
This is Black’s first regular TV role since the short-lived Michael & Michael Have Issues, which he starred in with The State’s Michael Showalter for Comedy Central in 2009. A remake of the BBC series Gavin & Stacey, Us & Them follows a young couple (Alexis Biedel, Jason Ritter) in a long distance relationship, dealing with their friends and family. Kenney plays Biedel’s character’s widowed mom, while Black is playing her uncle, the brother of her late father.
