Adult Swim Renews ‘Newsreaders’ for Season 2

Adult Swim’s 60 Minutes parody Newsreaders is coming back for a second season. Co-creator David Wain revealed on the podcast Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend this week that production is about to begin on the 15-minute comedy’s second season, although Adult Swim has yet to make an official announcement about the renewal.

A spinoff of Childrens Hospital, Adult Swim is a faux-news magazine hosted by  Louis LaFonda (played by Mather Zickel) that’s created and executive produced by the Childrens Hospital team of Rob Corddry, Jonathan Stern, and David Wain. Corddry, Paul Scheer, Michael Showalter, and Wyatt Cenac, amongst others, contributed as writers during the first season, which debuted in January and featured guest stars like Conan O’Brien, Dan Rather, Lizzy Caplan, Tom Lennon, and Ed Begley Jr.
