During his monologue Wednesday night, Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Kanye West’s recent BBC interview which, to be fair, veers into the incoherent at times. Kimmel decided the interview would be even more amusing if reeenacted by child actors, specifically the part where Kanye tells reporter Zane Lowe about his idea for leather jogging pants. That bit aired Wednesday night, and while one might think Kanye is too busy with his concert tour and new baby to watch all of the funny things the Internet makes about him, as luck would have it, this was one sketch he did catch. Apparently Yeezy was none too pleased with being mocked by a child because he took to (what else?) Twitter to unleash a world of anger on the late night host with a string of ten tweets that can only be described as solid gold hate.
The rant, which is eerily reminiscent of something a scorned teenager might write, began with:
JIMMY KIMMEL IS OUT OF LINE TO TRY AND SPOOF IN ANY WAY THE FIRST PIECE OF HONEST MEDIA IN YEARS— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) September 27, 2013
And continued into:
SARAH SILVERMAN IS A THOUSAND TIMES FUNNIER THAN YOU AND THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT!!!— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) September 27, 2013
The best of the bunch is Kanye’s mention of new Batman Ben Affleck:
Kimmel said he felt the bit was "pretty innocuous," and seemed pretty amused by being the focus of Kanye's wrath. "Finally, I'm in a rap feud!" he exclaimed.
As you can imagine, #NODISRESPECTTOBENAFFLECK is the beginning stages of trending, followed closely by #ALLDISRESPECTTOJIMMYKIMMEL.
The late night host responded to the vitriol with a few lighthearted quips:
I like you too! Glad we cleared this up. RT @kanyewest I LIKE YOU, YOU KNOW ME, I WENT TO YOUR FAMILY'S WEDDING— Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) September 27, 2013
Whether Kanye’s fury is real or it’s just another one of Kimmel’s elaborate Internet pranks (perhaps ABC wanted to get the chatter back in their court after Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake’s hashtag song blew up earlier this week), one thing is for sure: We’ll all be watching this evening to hear Kimmel tell us “the whole story about @kanyewest.”
UPDATE: If it's a prank, Kimmel is taking it pretty far. He said on his show that a "very angry" Kanye called him this afternoon and "told me I had two choices: Number one, apologize publicly – and that was really the only choice." The other option: "Your life is going to be much better if you apologize."
Rather than saying sorry, Kimmel proceeded to read through each of the all-caps gems. He even took things a bit further, in reference to this tweet:
JIMMY KIMMEL PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES … OH NO THAT MEANS YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TOO MUCH GOOD PUSSY IN YOUR LIFE…— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) September 27, 2013
"I've seen the video. I know," said Kimmel. "He told me on the phone, and I swear to God this is true, he said, 'I am the most powerful voice in media. I am Pac!' ... He said, 'You will never be able to show your face at a 14-year-old's high school football game and be cool again.' He really is Pac. That's right out of the Tupac playbook.' "
