Maybe you don’t recognize Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” by name, but it’ll almost certainly ring a bell once you hear it. Why’s that? Because for some reason, the early nineties alt-rock ballad has become ubiquitous in movies and television. It was never a huge hit on its own, but it’s had a two-decade legacy in everything from Gilmore Girls to CSI, The Following to Starship Troopers (!).
