The battle for Oscar glory is partly a war of attrition, as some films just drop out. Earlier this week, we had Grace of Monaco pushed back until spring of 2014 and rumors of a Wolf of Wall Street delay. Now Sony has announced that Foxcatcher has been pushed back to 2014 to give director Bennett Miller time to finish. The film, which is based on the true story of disturbed multimillionaire John du Pont, who murdered an Olympic wrestler, was receiving a good deal of award buzz, especially for its two biggest stars, Steve Carell and his prosthetic nose. No new date was set, but we’re still optimistic that he’ll eventually get the nomination he so deserves. To be clear, we’re talking about the nose.
