impassioned responses

Matthew Weiner Meh About Splitting Mad Men’s Last Season

Earlier in the week, we learned that Mad Men’s final season will be split into two parts, with seven episodes airing this spring and another seven the spring of 2015. Everyone’s response was decidedly blah. Included in that “everyone” was the show’s creator, Matthew Weiner. “It’s a strategy from the network and I was told about it,” Weiner told The Hollywood Reporter last night. He continued, “I found a way to work with it. That’s all I can say. I think it’s an opportunity.” Yeesh, that’s cold. Calling it “a strategy” and “an opportunity” — that endorsement rings as loud as a bell struck with a Twizzler.
