This is a no-brainer: ABC has given a full-season order to its new Tuesday hit Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the network just announced. (Despite previous reports that ABC had ordered 22 episodes before the show premiered, an ABC rep says that wasn’t the case.) After a huge debut three weeks ago, the Joss Whedon–produced Marvel spinoff has lost a big chunk of its same-day audience. But it’s doing very well once time-shifted viewing is factored in, and it’s dramatically improved ABC’s demo ratings in the 8 p.m. time slot formerly occupied by the Dancing With the Stars results show. S.H.I.E.L.D. may not be a smash, but so far, it’s a success. And now it will stay on the air through May.
