Congratulations to Alice Munro, who was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature, edging out perennial favorite Haruki Murakami and fellow retiree Philip Roth. Endearingly, the 82-year-old Canadian short-story author did not wake up at the crack of dawn to wait for a call from Sweden. "The Swedish Academy has not been able to get a hold of Alice Munro," the committee posted on Twitter. "Left a phone message." Meanwhile, fellow Canadian author Margaret Atwood is (happily) fielding all her calls. "Okay, everyone's calling Me to get me to write about Alice! (Alice, come out from behind the tool shed and pick up the phone.)"
