Actual mother-daughter duo Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino will play mother and daughter onscreen for the third time (previously in 2002’s The Banger Sisters and the upcoming indie Mother’s Day) for an NBC pilot called Growing Ivy. The comedy is based on an idea by Amurri Martino, who will not only write the pilot alongside Will McCormack (Celeste & Jesse) but also executive produce with her mother, McCormack, and his partner, Rashida Jones. Amurri Martino will play “type A+ Ivy Davis, who craves the stability she lacked in her childhood, and as a result, has thrown herself into her career at the expense of her personal life. In an attempt to restore balance and potentially find love, she invites her freewheeling, eccentric mom Franckie to move in with her and work on their relationship.” Mothers playing wacky mothers, daughters playing uptight daughters, and Susan Sarandon on TV? This is exciting.
