Over three years ago, we told you about the Todd Phillips–directed John Belushi biopic that was in the works. Well, with that not going anywhere at Warner Bros., The Hollywood Reporter reports that The Secret Life of Walter Mitty writer Steve Conrad, who was originally signed on to write the Phillips version, now has plans to direct it himself as an indie. First things first, Conrad is working on finding his Belushi, already meeting with Emile Hirsch and Workaholics’ Adam Devine. THR also heard Joaquin Phoenix’s name, of all people. The audition process consists of trying on a bee costume and if it fits, Cinderella-style, you are Belushi.
