Dan Harmon’s ‘Rick and Morty’ Premieres on Adult Swim on Dec. 2

Dan Harmon’s long-awaited new half-hour animated sitcom, Rick and Morty, is set to debut on Adult Swim on Dec 2. The show, which Harmon created and executive produces with Justin Roiland, follows “a sociopathic scientist who drags his unintelligent grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.” The show is based on Roiland’s Channel 101 shorts “The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti,” which were themselves based on Back to the Future’s Doc Brown and Marty McFly. The voice cast includes Roiland, Sarah Chalke, and Chris Parnell.

In an interview with Splitsider in February, Harmon described the show thusly:

I’ve got my Adult Swim show [Rick and Morty], which is for the 15-year-old in all of us. It’s really cool and sci-fi-based and reboots itself practically every episode because the rules are there are no rules. It’s really fun and insane and absurd.
