Scandal has at long last cast the role of Olivia Pope’s mother: Khandi Alexander, most recently of Treme, will play Maya Lewis, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Alexander played Alexx Woods on CSI: Miami for seven years, recurred as Dr. Benton’s sister Jackie on ER, and played Catherine on NewsRadio for four seasons. She’ll make her first appearance on Scandal this week — in flashbacks, since her character is dead. At least we all think she is, but this is Scandal. There could be a twist or five.
