It's amazing that it's taken Lifetime so long to make a Lizzie Borden movie. Borden was a young woman in Fall River, Massachusetts, who was tried (and eventually acquitted) for the ax murder of her father and stepmother. The trial was major news in 1893 and its legacy was sustained through stories, operas, plays, and a popular skipping-rope rhyme. The movie premieres on Lifetime on January 25 and stars Christina Ricci as Borden. It will be kind of like So I Married an Ax Murderer but without all that stinking poetry.
