Matt Zoller Seitz Live-Blogs the 2014 Golden Globes

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, your Golden Globes hosts Photo: NBC/2014 NBCUniversal Media, LLC

Greetings, Vulture readers: Won’t you join me for my live blog of the Golden Globes? I’ll keep up a running commentary on the evening’s earthshakingly important developments, pausing occasionally to describe what I’m drinking and snacking on and, if things get slow, narrating what my tropical fish are doing. Hopefully things won’t get so bad that I’ll eat and drink what’s in the tropical fish tank, but you never know and I’d rather not make promises I might not keep. You can send me your own comments on the Globes, and if I’m not riveted by the broadcast or by my fish, I might publish them. Let’s go!

Best supporting actress in a motion picture goes to Jennifer Lawrence, who would be greatly at risk of overexposure if she weren't so damned much fun to watch.

Golden Globe for miniseries/movie lead actress goes to Jacqueline Bisset for "Dancing on the Edge," which she was indeed awesome in. Her long walk to the stage suggests perhaps the oddsmakers did not favor her. What emotion in her face!

Tina & Amy totally stole that Clooney Joke from SNL Weekend Update! I believe the original joke that Seth Meyers told was "Astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson harshly criticized the hit movie Gravity this week, saying that it contained a number of major scientific inaccuracies. For example, there’s no way George Clooney would spend that much time talking to a woman his own age."

Weird how certain shows (like Parks & Rec) will get mostly ignored by awards groups year after year after year while some favorites win everything...and then suddenly a new favorite is anointed. Look for Brooklyn Nine-Nine to win more stuff next year, I bet.
