FX has cast John Hawkes and Michael Cera in its Charlie Kaufman–created half-hour comedy How and Why, the network announced today. Hawkes will star as Goodman Hesselman, “a man who can explain how and why a nuclear reactor works, but is clueless about life,” according to FX. He’s the former host of a children’s science show called How and Why, but has since moved to a smaller market and is working for a new producer (Cera). Hawkes and Timothy Olyphant on the same network? We inch ever closer to a Deadwood reunion.
