Kathy Griffin Beat Tig Notaro at the Grammys Last Night

At the Grammys last night, Kathy Griffin took home the award for Best Comedy Album, beating out Bob Saget, Craig Ferguson, Ron White, and Tig Notaro, who was nominated for Live, her famous Largo standup set from August 2012. In the Best Spoken Word Album category, Stephen Colbert won against Carol Burnett, David Sedaris, Billy Crystal, and Pete Seeger for his audiobook America Again: Re-becoming The Greatness We Never Weren’t. This makes Colbert’s second Grammy; he won Best Comedy Album in 2010 for A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! The Grammys have a pretty steady track record of being a little repetitive when it comes to choosing comedy nominees, which is bad news for talented up-and-coming comedians but good news for Notaro’s chances of winning in the next few years.
