VH1 has green-lit a sequel to the movie Drumline, according to Deadline. Nick Cannon will reprise his role from the original and will also executive produce the made-for-TV movie, which should come out this fall. Drumline: A New Beat follows Dani, a girl from Brooklyn who heads to (a fictional) college in New Orleans in the hopes of becoming the school’s first female section leader on the drumline. She makes friends; she has crushes; drumline drama occurs. The original Drumline is a total couch classic — if it’s on, you basically have to watch it — so a sequel is both an obvious and good idea.
