At some point over the last few years, the cynical and bitter won Valentine’s Day. Resenting and deriding it as a greeting-card holiday eclipsed most good will and chocolate eating. Well, the National are here to reclaim the holiday with “I Need My Girl,” a song lead singer Matt Berninger wrote for his wife. To heighten the message is a truly stunning video of couples intimately dancing frame-by-frame, in slow motion, in front of a black background. It might be cold outside, but at least your heart will be warmed for four minutes. Sure, that’s cheesy — deal with it. Happy Greeting Card Holiday!
