Hot off his work directing the entire first season of True Detective, Deadline reports Cary Fukunaga has sold a feature project to Fox. Working with up-and-coming screenwriter Nicole Riegel, the film will be set in a “contemporary wartime context.” Deadline also confirms what Fukunaga has said, which is he won’t be directing any of True Detective season two, but he will stay on as an executive producer. In an interview with Indiewire this past summer, he said the workload was just “too much.” We guess future actors working with Fukunaga should expect to see him on set grizzled, with long wiry hair, making beer-can people.
