Hannibal Buress Says Comedy Central Ordered 10 Episodes of His Show ‘Unemployable’ (UPDATE)

Standup Hannibal Buress announced today via Twitter that Comedy Central has picked up his new show, Unemployable, for 10 episodes. Unemployable is a reality comedy series that follows Buress trying out a different job each week, with standup from him mixed in. Comedy Central ordered a pilot of the show back in May. There’s no word yet on when the series will premiere.

Buress described his show to us earlier this week in an interview that’s going up in a couple weeks. Here’s what he had to say:

My pilot is just me doing different jobs, a comedian version of Dirty Jobs. So it’s just me working at a goat farm, I worked at a diner, I worked as a fortune teller — just me doing different jobs and then we recorded standup with me talking about these jobs at the Knitting Factory. So there’s a reality portion and then the standup, and I narrate it too. It’s my first narrating gig.

Buress, a former writer for SNL and 30 Rock, plays a recurring role on Comedy Central’s Broad City and is also the co-host on Adult Swim’s The Eric Andre Show. He has a new hour-long standup special, Hannibal Buress: Live from Chicago, which premieres on Comedy Central March 29th.

UPDATE 3/15: It turns out Hannibal Buress’s tweet about the pilot being picked up isn’t accurate and his pilot hasn’t been picked up yet, according to Comedy Central. A spokesperson from Comedy Central gave this statement: “While we love Hannibal and are excited about his pilot, it was just delivered.  We’ll be evaluating it, along with several other projects in development, in the near future.”

The fact that Comedy Central didn’t actually pick up his pilot hasn’t stopped Hannibal Buress from continuing to tweet about it and to retweet news stories and congratulations:
