Smash alum Katharine McPhee has been cast in a CBS drama, according to THR. She’ll play a “working-class hero and diner waitress” on Scorpion, a show about an ensemble of geniuses; said waitress is not among the geniuses, of course, but is instead “a nanny of sorts and a translator for … socially misunderstood masterminds.” Probably with her special lady-powers of understanding! No word yet on whether this waitress will sing, but maybe it will come about in a scene where the geniuses have assumed no one else has an interior life and then boom, it turns out they do.
