With Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook, and Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, director Joe Wright needed to find one hell of a kid actor to play Peter Pan who could match that star power. Variety reports he cast blue-eyed nobody Levi Miller to play young Pan, an orphan during WWII who is kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland. Setting Pan in WWII does help explain Pan’s future distrust of the mustachioed.
