University of Iowa Won’t Allow Girls to Film on Campus

While Girls could have easily turned any college campus into the University of Iowa for their fourth season, the show was hoping for authenticity by getting the real deal on film. Sadly it was not to be, even though Girls writer Sarah Heyward is herself a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. “While we are pleased that the Iowa Writers’ Workshop is receiving national attention and that our graduate is doing well in her career, our general practice is to not allow filming, due to potential disruption to campus,” university spokesman Tom Moore confirmed. On the bright side, the request indicates that Hannah will likely attend the University of Iowa rather than talking herself out of enrollment in favor of, say, getting back together with Adam. Plus, it will make the second episode where he runs barefoot and shirtless to see her even more epic than the first.
