Fox will air a live production of the musical Grease at some point in 2015, the network announced today. Grease Live will feature a "young ensemble cast," none of whom have been named yet, nor has anyone signed on to hopelessly devote themselves to the production side of things.
After NBC struck ratings gold with its live Sound of Music last year, we knew we were in for more televised live musicals — NBC itself has plans to air more, and there's no reason other networks shouldn't get in the game. (Though one might have assumed ABC would be next in line, given that they own Disney.) Grease seems like a perfect fit for this kind of thing: The music and movie are beloved, yes, but it's nowhere near as sacrosanct as The Sound of Music. Begin making your casting wish lists ... now.
