Jem fans, it’s time to meet your Rio. THR reports that Step Up actor Ryan Guzman has been tapped to play the love interest in Jon M. Chu’s upcoming Jem and the Holograms live-action reboot. Nashville’s Aubrey Peeples will star as as Jem while Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko and Stefanie Scott will play her “Holograms” bandmates. For those who have yet to read our Jem refresher course, the film is based on the ‘80s Hasbro cartoon about music company owner Jerrica Benton and her rockstar alter-ego, Jem. Rio is the band’s road manager and technical engineer as well as Jerrica’s longtime boyfriend. Obviously we hope that their chemistry will be truly, truly outrageous.
