Be prepared for your heart to be broken one more time. Even Jessica Chastain herself has confirmed that she won’t be on True Detective season two. Speaking to reporters at the 21st annual Cannes Cinema Against Aids benefit for amFAR, she wouldn’t talk about whether or not she’d been approached to do the series (though her reaction made it seem pretty clear that she had been). But, regardless, that ship has sailed. “It’s such an awkward thing,” says Chastain. “That news broke yesterday and it went crazy on the internet. There was so much of an explosion. Also it’s an awkward thing because when all that attention happens, it takes away from whoever plays the role. I love Woody Harrelson, and I’m gonna watch the second season just like I watched every episode of the first. But I won’t be on it.”
