And your latest semi-tragic musician biopic comes courtesy of HBO, which is developing a movie about ‘20s and ‘30s blues singer Bessie Smith — a.k.a. the “Empress of Blues” — starring none other than Queen Latifah. Set your EGOT watches to “Emmy.” (And also maybe second Grammy, if she’s singing?)
