Vulture Festival: Watch Rufus Wainwright Talk About His Lana Del Rey Obsession

At this weekend’s inaugural Vulture Festival, we shared a lovely Mother’s Day brunch with Rufus Wainwright and Julie Klausner, who chatted about musicals, Mark Ronson (Rufus: “I’d like to see him naked just to see what his pubic hair looks like. Is it perfect?”) and, naturally, moms. Wainwright’s late mother, musician Kate McGarrigle, died a few years ago and he paid a lovely tribute to her — performing a song she wrote about his father, Loudon Wainwright III, “The Walking Song.” (Wainwright and his sister, Martha have started a foundation in her memory.) Maternal inspiration quickly flowed into talk about other influential artists and Wainwright brought up his new adoration of Lana Del Rey. Let’s just say that he wasn’t a big fan … at first. Watch the clip below and stay tuned for more video from Wainwright’s Vulture brunch.
