TBS today ordered Angie Tribeca, a new comedy pilot starring Rashida Jones and created by Steve Carell and Nancy Carell, to series, Deadline reports. The police comedy, formerly called Tribeca, stars Jones as a lone wolf cop who’s part of an eccentric group of LAPD detectives. Jere Burns, Deon Cole, and Andree Vermeulen also star. Angie Tribeca will premiere in 2015.
Steve Carell directed the pilot, which he wrote with wife Nancy; the two will serve as executive producers on the series. Alfred Molina, Lisa Kudrow, Gary Cole, Nancy Carell, and Hayes Macarthur all appear in the pilot.
UPDATE: According to THR, TBS has also ordered two more comedy pilots to series, Buzzy’s and Your Family or Mine. Buzzy’s is a barbershop workplace comedy from Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick that stars George Wendt, Ashley Tisdale, and Lauren Lapkus, while Your Family or Mine comes from Ground Floor co-creator Greg Malins and stars Kyle Howard and Kat Foster as a young married couple dealing with each other’s families.
