Comedy Central is teaming up with online sketch duo BriTANick to create a new show. THR reports that the cable network has ordered a pilot created by and starring BriTANick’s Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, much in the same way they recently developed the web series Broad City into a TV show.
The pilot will star Kocher and McElhaney as a pair of fictional best friends who get into silly adventures based on their own real experiences. In the episode, “Nick fakes his own death to get out of a relationship as Brian tries to buy his way back into one.”
Nick Kocher and McElhaney formed the group BriTANick in 2008 after graduating from NYU Tisch. They’ve since made over 30 web videos, including some for CollegeHumor and Above Average, hosted live shows at UCB Theatre NYC, and most importantly, made Splitsider’s 2013 list of The 11 Best Sketch Groups on the Internet. They’ve appeared together in an episode of How I Met Your Mother, Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing, and the indie Intramural, and they’re currently developing a movie for Lionsgate that they’re planning to star in, direct, and write.
