North Korean Dictator Not Happy With James Franco and Seth Rogen

When the first trailer for The Interview, Seth Rogen and James Franco’s movie about killing Kim Jong-un, premiered, it was hard not to feel a little weird. It’s a movie about assassinating a real, living person, regardless of that person’s political practices; that’s a little strange. Well, unsurprisingly, Jong-un isn’t too enthused to be following in his dad’s footsteps, as Kim Jong-il was famously the villain in Team America. Kim Myong-chol, executive director of the Centre for North Korea–U.S. Peace and an “unofficial spokesman for the regime,” spoke with the Daily Telegraph, saying, “It shows the desperation of the US government and American society.” He continued, by saying that American movies are “full of assassinations and executions,” which he said “mirrors what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine.”  (The British, however, are chill: “James Bond is a good character and those films are much more enjoyable.”) That said, Myong-chol says Kim Jong-un will probably see the movie anyway, because regardless of how harsh the portrayal, it’s still pretty cool to be in a movie.
