Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones’s Gwendoline Christie have joined the cast of J.J. Abrams’s Star Wars: Episode VII, Lucasfilm announced today. Nyong’o’s involvement has been an object of hope and speculation for months, so it’s nice to know that some wishes do occasionally come true, and Christie’s sword-swinging on GoT seems like it would lend itself to lightsaber skills in a galaxy far, far away. Go ahead, make a “Brienne of Darth” joke — everyone else is going to.
