weekend box office

Maleficent Is Angelina Jolie’s Highest-Grossing Film Ever

Think Like a Man Too, the sequel to 2012’s Think Like a Man, took the weekend box office with $30 million, narrowly edging out last weekend’s sequel champ, 22 Jump Street, which came in at No. 2 with $29 million (totaling $111 million in domestic ticket sales). Another sequel, How to Train Your Dragon 2, came in at No. 3 with $25.3 million. Clint Eastwood’s adaptation of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys bombed at No. 4 with $13.5 million. Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent  proved to have a lot of staying power, rounding out the top five with $13 million in its fourth weekend bringing its domestic haul to $186 million. Adding in worldwide numbers, the Disney live-action film has made $521 million to become Jolie’s highest-grossing film ever. (Her previous best was Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which brought in $478.2 million back in 2005.)
