Weird Al’s New Album ‘Mandatory Fun’ Out July 15th

“Weird Al” Yankovic’s 13th album, entitled Mandatory Fun, is set to come out on July 15th. There are few details about the album, his first since 2011’s Alpocalypse, right now beyond the recently-unveiled cover art, which depicts “Weird Al” as a military leader on a Russian propaganda poster. A track listing has yet to be released, but there are two tiny pieces of information out there right now:

1. Patton Oswalt listened to the album early back in May and tweeted, “Just listened to Al Yankovic’s upcoming album and I am in awe. He satirizes a band I’ve worshiped since the 90s and it…is…beautiful.”

2. TMZ caught “Weird Al” approaching Iggy Azalea at a concert about getting permission to parody one of her songs, presumably “Fancy.”

The math doesn’t quite work out on this, but hopefully, Iggy Azalea is the musician Patton Oswalt has been a fan of since the ‘90s.
