He may have retired from public life, but he certainly hasn’t retired retired: According to Deadline, Alec Baldwin is negotiating to star alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 5 as the head of the CIA, and is also in talks to join the cast of Peter Landesman’s untitled football concussion project starring Will Smith. But that’s not all: In our favorite bit of news to come out of the casting blitz, Baldwin is reportedly also developing a new one-hour cable series with NBC productions, in which he would play the lead role of a “Rob Ford-type Mayor of New York City.” Guess we’ll finally get a glimpse of what it would have been like if Baldwin had actually run for office.
