Looks like Louie C.K. may soon have another portly, red-headed comic to contend with: Entertainment Weekly reports that Jim Gaffigan’s semi-autobiographical comedy The Gaffigan Show has been picked up for a ten-episode order by TV Land, after two unsuccessful development attempts over at CBS. The show, based on his 2013 memoir, Dad Is Fat, will premiere on TV Land in 2015, with episodes also airing on Comedy Central the week after they debut. Gaffigan stars as a New York husband and father of five (as he is in real life) attempting to strike a balance between stand-up and family life, with a supporting cast that includes Ashley Williams (How I Met Your Mother) as his wife, Michael Ian Black (Ed) as his wife’s confidante, and Adam Goldberg (Fargo) as his best friend. For the sake of our nation’s think-piece writers, we just hope it’s not as envelope-pushing as Louie. They are exhausted.
