In an interview with Marie Claire UK, Katherine Heigl — revving up for a comeback with her new NBC series State of Affairs — spoke out about feeling betrayed by Hollywood. “This thing that was my best friend for a long time suddenly turned on me,” she said of the movie industry. “And I didn’t expect it. I was taken by surprise and angry at it for betraying me.” She also acknowledged that too many rom-coms may have been a contributing factor in her devolution from golden girl to industry punchline. “I had an amazing time. I love romantic comedies. I was so stoked to be doing them,” said Heigl. “But maybe I hit it a little too hard. I couldn’t say no. There’s nothing wrong with them, but maybe I overloaded my audience. I should have done a superhero movie or a psychological thriller.” Well, it sounds like she’s learned her lesson. Prepare yourself for Heigl 2.0.
