Michael Johns, a finalist on the seventh season of American Idol, has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 35-year-old Australian singer-songwriter reportedly passed away Friday after a blood clot formed in his ankle. After coming in eighth on American Idol back in 2008, Johns went on to release a full-length album in 2009 called Hold Back My Heart and a 2012 EP called Love and Sex. “Michael Johns was an incredible talent and we are deeply saddened by the news of his passing. He was a part of our American Idol family and he will be truly missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time," read a statement on the show's official Facebook page. Numerous members of the Idol family have also expressed their condolences, with Simon Cowell tweeting: “I just heard the very sad news that Michael Johns has passed away. A truly great guy. Rest in peace Michael." And from Randy Jackson: "So Sad. Too soon. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. RIP Michael Johns."
