Starz has renewed its steamy Scotland-set drama Outlander for a second season, the network announced today. The new season will be based on Diana Gabaldon's second Outlander book, Dragonfly in Amber, which somehow has nothing to do with Jurassic Park. The series premiered last week to pretty decent ratings, but, perhaps more significantly, to a tremendous amount of chatter. This current first season is 16 episodes — in the tragic eight-now, eight-later format so beloved by cable — and the second installment will be at least 13 episodes, presumably broken up in the same manner. Prepare ye bagpipes.
