Richard Attenborough Has Died at the Age of 90

British actor and director Richard Attenborough has passed away at the age of 90, his son Michael confirmed to the BBC Sunday. A staple of the British film industry and brother of naturalist/broadcaster David Attenborough, his career spanned six decades, both as an actor — appearing in over 70 films including Brighton Rock, The Great Escape, and Jurassic Park — and as a director, most notably of 1982's Gandhi, for which he won two Oscars. British Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted his respects on Sunday night, writing: "His acting in 'Brighton Rock' was brilliant, his directing of 'Gandhi' was stunning - Richard Attenborough was one of the greats of cinema."
