This Guy Is SNL’s Only Other New Cast Member for Next Season

Only a few days after the announcement that Michael Che would be taking over Cecily Strong’s spot on “Weekend Update,” NBC has confirmed to Vulture that New York comedian Pete Davidson is the second new cast hire of the summer. Before this, Davidson, who was named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch this past July, is best known for appearing on MTV’s Guy Code and Wild ’n Out. At 20 years old (yes, 20), Davidson will be one of the youngest cast members ever, following Anthony Michael Hall (17) and Eddie Murphy (19). Davidson started doing comedy at 16 as a way to help him deal with the loss of his father, who was a firefighter who died on 9/11.

There will be no other additions to the cast as of right now, leaving the cast for the premiere as Vanessa Bayer, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Colin Jost, Taran Killam, Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan, Kyle Mooney, Jay Pharoah, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, and Sasheer Zamata. (While his fate was uncertain earlier in the summer, sadly, Mike O’Brien will go back to being a writer after a season on the cast.) Watch a recent clip of Davidson on Jimmy Kimmel Live below and start picturing him in wigs.
