Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet is getting into the producer game. Deadline reports that Stonestreet has teamed up with The Bernie Mac Show/Modern Family writer Jerry Collins to produce a multi-cam workplace comedy for ABC called Big Stop set in Stonestreet’s native state of Kansas. The comedy – which was inspired by Collins accompanying Stonestreet on a Fourth of July trip to Kansas a few years ago – will be “a modern take on family and today’s current issues as seen through the lens of a bustling Kansas truck stop where stories and characters, like big rigs, come rolling in off the highway everyday.” Stonestreet also expressed an interest in producing more projects in his post-Modern Family future: “When my great days on the show end, I’d like to have the opportunity to continue to create and produce and get a show on the air one day that is hopefully as good as Modern Family.
