‘Ride Along’ Producer Will Packer Is Developing an Autobiographical Comedy for NBC

Ride Along and Think Like a Man producer Will Packer just sold a half-hour comedy to NBC. Titled Like Father, Like Son, the series is inspired by Packer’s life and follows “a recently divorced man in his early thirties who is just starting to enjoy the benefits of being young, successful and single when he learns he has a fifteen-year-old son from a one-night-stand he had in college.” Packer will executive produce alongside writer Michael Pennie (My Name Is Earl, Raising Hope). This makes Packer’s third TV project currently in the works following NBC comedy #PeopleAreTalking and the Uncle Buck remake for ABC, which hasn’t made the families of John Candy and John Hughes very happy.

Like Father, Like Son joins a huge list of autobiographical comedies currently in development from Tommy Johnagin, Johnny Knoxville, Adam Levine, Jermaine Fowler, Rivers Cuomo, and Carson Daly.
