Amazon Announces 7 New Pilots for 2015

Amazon’s 2015 pilots will premiere early next year, the company announced today. The newest slate has seven shows — four hourlong scripted series, two half-hour scripted series, and a half-hour kinda-sorta-documentary series. Behold:

Cocked: An hourlong dark comedy about a gun-loving family whose liberal prodigal son returns. True Blood’s Sam Trammell plays the son who swore he’d never come back to Virginia; Jason Lee plays the son who never left.

Down DogA hunky yoga instructor’s life starts to crumble in this half-hour sitcom. Paget Brewster plays his boss/ex, and Kris Kristofferson also appears.

Mad Dogs: In the slightly higher-profile department, this hourlong dark comedy stars Steve Zahn, Billy Zane, Romany Malco, Michael Imperioli, and Ben Chaplin as a group of high-school friends who reunite in Belize — and then things get a little out of control. The show’s based on a U.K. series, and The Shield’s Shawn Ryan is among its executive producers.

The Man in the High Castle: Written by The X-Files’ Frank Spotnitz, this hourlong drama is based on the Philip K. Dick book of the same title. It’s an alternate history in which the Axis forces won World War II.

The New Yorker Presents: The half-hour series brings articles from The New Yorker to life. Amazon’s calling it a docu-series, but it sounds like a combination of formats, including straight documentary and short-film adaptations of fiction and poetry.

Point of Honor: An hourlong Civil War drama that centers on a the son of a powerful southern family who decides to both free his family’s slaves and still fight for the Confederacy. Written by Lost’s Carlton Cuse and directed by by Braveheart writer Randall Wallace.

Salem Rogers: Leslie Bibb stars in the half-hour comedy about a former supermodel who has spent ten years in rehab. The cast includes Rachel Dratch, Jane Kaczmarek, Harry Hamlin, Brad Morris, Scott Adsit, and Toks Olagundoye.
