Are we the only ones who’ve found ourselves crying almost every time we watch The Colbert Report? It’s just so sad that Stephen Colbert, the character, is ending. You watch clips like one the below, and you feel like screaming, “Too soon! He’s leaving us too soon!” This bit from last night’s episode is an example of the show’s incredible ability to satirize through dumb enthusiasm. Of course, Colbert is excited for the Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew. The writing is so strong that, towards the end, Colbert even breaks a little (which is still one of TV’s greatest joys). Oh, no, it’s happening again. Is someone cutting onions?
