NBC Pumps the Brakes on Constantine, Will Halt Production After 13 Episodes

Deadline reports that NBC’s Constantine will pause production and put a cap on season one after the show finishes its original 13-episode order. The DC Comics–based drama, about a supernatural detective who hunts and vanquishes demons, will finish out its maiden voyage in its current 10 p.m. Friday position. Although it didn’t earn more episodes, the series is still eligible for a second-season re-up. Speculating as to why NBC pumped the breaks, Deadline adds that it could be because Constantine endured a delayed launch and therefore gave NBC execs fewer episodes to use as decision-makers. It’s unclear what show will take Constantine’s spot after its 13th episode.
