Watch Fan-Shot Footage of N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton Biopic Trailer

The rapper Ice Cube unveiled the trailer for the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton at a show in Sydney, Australia, earlier this month, according to Rolling Stone. A fan captured bootleg footage of the teaser (below), which shows a montage of the mean streets of South Central L.A. interspersed with a prison scene, baseball-bat action, lots of partying, and Paul Giamatti doing his best Paul Giamatti face. In the movie, Giamatti plays N.W.A.’s controversial manager Jerry Heller; he’s joined here by Jason Mitchell, who plays Eazy-E; Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre; and O’Shea Jackson Jr. as his dad, Ice Cube. The movie, directed by F. Gary Gray, is due out August 14 and, thanks to the clip, looks like it’s worth getting excited about. “Let me tell you what I see here: a lot of raw talent, swagger, bravado. People are scared of you guys, they think you’re dangerous,” says Giamatti as Heller. “But you have a unique voice — the world needs to hear it.”
