Saturday Night Live had two Ferguson segments this weekend: the cold-open and the first chunk of “Weekend Update.” There could have been one more sketch, too, but alas, this one was cut for time after the dress rehearsal. That’s a shame, since it’s terrific — way better than the other Ferguson material, and better than most of the sketches in the episode. Cecily Strong and Kenan Thompson play the reluctant anchors of a perky St. Louis morning news show, where the sunny enthusiasm suddenly feels really, really out of place.
